THE LITTLE SIR SAYS:
Greetings fellow SIRs! After a year and a half of being little SIR this will be my last message to you. It has been such an honor serving you. We have been working with many of you and with the SIR resources to provide many speakers for you. Among the brother SIRs who have helped are Andy Neureuther, Thank you Andy for all your help. I also want to thank Dave Church for taking over the control of the Web site from me. Thank you, Dave.
The point I want to make is that SIR Branch 81 like all SIR branches only works if people volunteer to help. It is one of the things I am going to work on next year when I become Big Sir. This is our organization and we need to work together to keep it going.
Looking for the next Little Sir
Although there is time for nominations and although I may as the upcoming Big Sir may not be a part of the committee I hope one of the other of you may step up and be willing to take the responsibility of doing so in the upcoming year. If you are willing to consider this (take a look at volunteering below) and understand that I will train you in how to do the job well and support you in your work.
Why? Because growing membership is the key to having a diverse group of guys who want to get together, once a month, to solve the world's problems. Clearly there are enough world problems to go around. So the challenge is: bring an acquaintance to the next meeting so we can meet him and he can enjoy two hours of camaraderie.
We have over a dozen SIR's working on making SIR Branch 81 a great club to belong to.
Why? Because we want you to get involved with your ideas and your efforts. More specifically, volunteer to help with publicity, programs, meal planning, finance, membership, etc. No brain surgery here and you might enjoy making our club better than it is. So the challenge is: rather than waiting for someone to strong arm you into participating, look up one of the board members, they are all listed here under officers, and tell them you are ready to make SIR Branch 81 an even better club.
Make every effort to attend each SIR meeting held on the first Tuesday of each month in the Fireside Room. So circle the first Tuesday on your calendar and don't let other commitments get in your way. Also, bring a friend so you can both enjoy the conversation, the host beverage bar, the food and listen to an interesting speaker.
See you at the next Tuesday meeting!
Dave Heflich, Little SIR
