THE BIG SIR SAYS:
It has been with great pleasure that I have come to take on the role of Big SIR for the upcoming year. It has been an exciting time for me as I spent 1.5 years as little SIR and have managed to arrange speakers through May of 2018. I expect this to be a good year and we have already started planning a training for the Executive Committee members on March 26th here in Rossmoor at Creekside.
l I was contacted by our State VP Ed Benson about reviewing the Leaders Guide that members of the BEC had received at our last SIR training. He wanted to discuss problems with the training program with me since I have a doctoral degree in part in Instructional Design. He is thinking about making all SIR Training through Webinars. This is up to the SIR Board and we will see what comes of it.
We will be having a regional BIG and Little SIR training here in Rossmoor on the 26th of this month. It will be held in the smaller rooms in the event center. I hope all of the members of the BEC will be able to attend this training. Ed Bensons expects close to 80 people to be in attendance, this will include the State SIR President, Derek Southern, who called me the other day for directions.
SIR really depends on Volunteers to make the organization function as smoothly as it does; That’s why we recognize the volunteers at luncheons. But many of those who continue to volunteer are the same folks who are getting older. So if you are new to SIR or new to Rossmoor and have a background in business or any other area that may help us please volunteer! Come join us at the BEC meeting at 10AM before the luncheon and learn about the jobs that each of the members of the committee. Once you sit through a couple of these get togethers we will get to know you and you will get to know us, Volunteer to help run SIR.
Here is a synopsis of our varioius committees:
We are always looking for new and interesting speakers, and we are anxious to get member input concerning speakers and subjects. The committee are available for any positive suggestions from the members particularly from those who know of, and can help with, speaker names and subjects.
The committee works on the types of community awareness that would assist SIR Branch 81 to attract new members. It is critical that we enhance the role of SIR Branch 81 to sustain our growth and image in the Rossmoor community.
This is another important committee that directs the selection and processing of new members, reports on membership attendance and provides indoctrination information on the SIR organization.
This committe insures the sound financial status of the Branch. Included are the collection of both annual dues and the monthly luncheon fees.
Our website insures that members receive information on all alpects of Branch 81 activities on a timely basis.
Our special events include the two Ladies Days that we sponsor each year for the members wives, friends and/or guests of Rossmoor. We require assistance with table decorations and other aspects to insure the event will be successful. .
One of the more popular activities associated with our luncheons is Branch 81’s hosted bar. Your choice of spirits, wine or beer is available during our monthly luncheon at no aditional charge.
Our Branch suupots those members who need our compassion, understanding, awareness and help during troubled times. If you know or hear about a member's need, please advise our chairman, Charlie Monahagn
